Travel Info…
You’re options to get to Brum are very varied – you can fly, drive or take the train. If you’re coming from London the cheapest train tickets are on www.chilternrailways.co.uk and can be bought for as little as £5 each way. You can then transfer from Birmingham Moor Street to Solihull for about £2 (Please be aware that to return on a Sunday from Solihul is sometimes a bit tricky – often they have rail replacement busses on). From Scotland you can take the train to Birmingham International and then go to Solihull or to Birmingham new Street. You would then need to walk to Moor Street (approx 4 minute walk) and then transfer to Solihull.
If you do decide to fly then make sure you go to Birmingham International and NOT East Midlands. Flights range from £30-£100 return from London or Scotland.
Driving is also easy – from London its either the M1 to junction 19, then the M6 to junction 3a/4 and then the M42 to junction 4, Shirley. You’re other option is the M40 to M42. From North London it takes us no more than 2 hours. From Scotland it depends on where you come from! It’s pretty easy though and takes about 5 hours from Glasgow (including a little rest stop!)
The ceremony will be held at Christ Church, School Road, Yardley Wood, Birmingham, B14 4EP
Followed by an evening reception to be held at Hogarths, Four Ashes Road, Dorridge, West Midlands, B93 8ND. Please can all evening guests try to arrive as close to 7:30pm as possible so that we can really get the party started?! Thanks!
Hotel Information…
For those of you who want to stay the Friday & Saturday night and don’t already have plans, there are two options:
The Holiday Inn, 61 Homer Road, Solihull, B91 3QD
This one is great if you want to make a weekend of it. It’s directly opposite Touchwood Shopping Centre which houses everything from department stores to some great bars, pubs and clubs. Ideal for some Friday night fun! Costs about £7 in a taxi from Hogarths.
The Premier Inn, Stratford Road, Hockley Heath
Great for if you want to just come on the Saturday. It costs about £6 in a taxi to Hogarths from here and has a lovely pub called The Barn, right next door.
Taxis…
Taxis can be ordered from anywhere but we usually get the best rates from a company called A2B on 0121 733 3000
RSVP’s…
We’d really appreciate it if you could include on your RSVP how you will be getting to the Church and if you think you might need transport from the Church to the reception. There will be a few spare seats in various cars so if we can work it all out in advance that’d be great!
Extra Info… SPORTS DAY!!! THIS IS HAPPENING!!! WOO HOO!!!
If the weather holds out for the day after the wedding we are hoping to have a ‘sports day’ at a local park. Think 6 year olds school sports day – rounders, sack races, egg & spoon etc etc! Basically we just wanted to be able to spend some more time with the people who mean the most to us – that’s all of you by the way – so please bring a pair of trainers and a picnic blanket! We’ll give you more information at the wedding!
Pics…
Hopefully we’ll have an online photo album after the wedding where you’ll be able to see (and maybe upload some of your own) photos from our big day! Information will be available on here sometime in August so please keep looking! We’re also having a DVD made of the wedding that I can maybe email people who are interested in seeing it!
